Sponge activity: For my sponge activity I will ask the class how much they exercise weekly, do they personally think they eat healthy and if they ever heard of cardio kickboxing and what their ideas of what it is, is.
Introduction: At the moment it is, "What is most significant in achieving a healthy body system and healthy physique?" but, I'm changing it to "What is most significant in achieving a healthy system through cardio kickboxing?". What I mean on a healthy system is by having your body feeling well during the class and exercise, not having your heart pumping too much blood or straining your muscles. I chose cardio kickboxing because originally I wanted to do kickboxing overall but with my health I couldn't; cardio kickboxing was a great alternative. Plan for the day would be to talk about what a healthy system is in a nutritional stand point, what cardio kickboxing is, showing the basic punchs and kicks for the first activity, then moving into my 3 answers. After break, I will have a full on cardio kickboxing class.
Foundation: What cardio kickboxing is, why is it a popular exercise class, how the idea came across, basic moves of cardio kickboxing and what a person can achieve by doing the class.
Body:
Answer 1: Good eating habits
-----Activity 1: No activity in mind, or just have them share out if they think they have good eating habits.
Answer 2: Committment/Motivation
-----Activity 2: Have them do, squat, front kick, squat, back kick, squat, left kick, squat, right kick, while having their partners motivate them to continue doing it and the person commiting to a proper execution. (I hate squats and it's the hardest exercise to keep up with in the class!"
Answer 3: Using target heart rate zone during the class.
-----Activity 3: Have the class find their target heart rate zone.
Conclusion
What is your best answer and why? Using target hear zone rate. It personally has helped me and people in my science experiment improve their workouts and keep themselves healthy. Using target heart rate zone helps keep a person motivated during the exercise and helps the person know whether they are putting their 100% effort into the exercise, proof being what their heart rate is. It not only keeps a person at a healthy heart rate during exercise, but it also is the range of which you burn the most calories during the exercise because your body is not over exerting during the class nor is it doing the bare minimum.
What is your 3 most important sources and why?
1. Sherri Diaz - independent component 1, service learning, interview 2. She has helped me understand not only cardio kickboxing but exercise as a whole and how a person's body reacts to exercise. She has answered my many questions and was always my motivator during the class.
2. Dr. Audrey Gonzalez - interview 4. Audrey taught me many things of nutrition and what it really means to have a healthy system. Throughout all my reasearch, I never fully understood or got the the best information of what nutrition truly is. Audrey helped me understand nutrition and assisted me to really is to put things together.
3. http://www.popularfitness.com/ - This website assisted me a lot during reseach checks. I gave me full information on every topic of exercise, including strength training, cardio vascular exercise, flexibility training and many more. Many of the other websites were to general and broad, http://www.popularfitness.com/, wasn't and gave me the details I needed.
What is your product and why? My product of this whole senior project was the improvements I made myself. I had bad health coming into senior year and I was never truly healthy, in both exercise and nutrition. I never really knew how much I pushed myself and dangered my body during my many diets and exercise madness phases. Many people doubted me and were uneasy about my exercising because of how unhealthy and weak my body was, but I proved them wrong. My biggest accomplishment throughout this project was to be able to accept who I was on the outside a lot more than I originally did.
Quite a few questions...How do you plan on asking them? Just in general? Will you give out a little question sheet?
ReplyDeleteIf you intend to do a cardo kickboxing class, make sure you get a list of participants and notify them about dressing out. So, you will basically talk for 30 minutes and then go to your activity (which will be a big class?)
I like the idea of how target heart rate can affect motivation. Will you talk about the anaerobic zone and what that means?
Any print sources? You will want to talk about these people's qualifications. Still not sure on the nutrition angle without another tweak of your question. Do you have a sample article from popularfitness? Any fitness books or magazines?
What is your evidence of your improved health and body image?
1. I'm beginning to wonder if diet fits your question. You are asking how to have a healthy system through cardio kickboxing. Although a healthy diet would be a good idea, I don't see how the diet falls under the cardio kickboxing. Discuss this more with me.
You will have to teach them enough in this section that they will be able to demonstrate their understanding. Again...this just isn't matching up.
2. Again, the commitment/motivation can be too general. Are there specific techniques that you will teach them that they can demonstrate? I can see where this would work with a partner like you were saying. What if you talked about a workout community and then proper form. Then you can combine the two answers in this activity.
3. Make sure to fully develop the target heart rate answer and activity.
