PART ONE: Two Hour Presentation

1. Student Assessment- P area...( P+, P, P-)..?
         - I had a lot of activities for the class and met my talking requirement. I felt as if I did focus on cardio kickboxing only and gave good information. It seemed the class was really excited about the class prior, during and after the presentation. I also got good feedback.

2. What are you most proud of in your two hour presentation? Why?
          - I was really proud of my activites and that all of them were able to be completed. Even though I needed 30 minutes of content/talking, I wanted to have a lot of activities because my senior project is a exercise program and I didn't want to just have a sit down and listen kind of presentation. My goal was to have a lot of activities within my powerpoint, so the class and myself would be able to experience the fitness area of my project. Cardio kickboxing isn't something someone can just read about and then understand, it's something that someone needs to put themselves into to experience.

PART TWO: Overall Senior Project Experience

3. What do you think you did well on in the project? What do you think you could have done better? Explain.
          - I think I did well with my interviews and prior presentations because the best grades I recieved was in those two categories. I think I could have done a lot better in my exit interview as well as my first independent component because it was just working out and I feel as if I should have something different and more in relation with my topic.

4. What is your EQ and what is your best answer?
          - What is the best way to maximize the benefits of a cardio kickboxing fitness program?
          - Using THRZ during the cardio kickboxing fitness program.

5. How has the last month of culminating events affected your answer to you EQ? Has it changed? Why or why not?
         - The ISearch assisted me in going more into depth with my EQ and as well as my answers. Before this month, my EQ didn't come close to what I was trying to answer and didn't even mention my senior project topic in the question. I changed my essential question and I also changed my answers to be more targetted to not just a general exercise program, but specifically going into depth, explaining only cardio kickboxing and also properly worded answers to answer my EQ.

6. What suggestions do you have in order to improve the Senior Project?
          - Starting Advisory meetings maybe 2 months prior to senior project presentation time and more meetings. I saw a lot of people being stressed about having to change stuff in their project and I feel as if, if they were started earlier, the people who had to make changes would feel more secure about their presentation and project. Also, all of the teachers announcing dates and clearing things up, so all the houses would have the same information. In duration of the year, some houses would have the wrong due date and be unaware of a certain criteria in the component.

7. Overall Senior Project Assessment- P
        - I think I did well in my presentations, interviews and other components that were given to us. The ones I feel as if I lacked on was my exit interview and my first independent task because it was just working out.

Literal : Throughout the senior year I did my service learning with Sherri Diaz, is one of the cardio kickboxing instructors at the LA Fitness in Diamond Bar. Sherri has allowed me to set up the tech equipment, set up the class and help clean up the class after.Sherri was the person I would always go to whenever I had questions about cardio kickboxing and any questions I had that were just lingering. She allowed me to take notes on her during the class about specifically what she teachs in the class and also how to have 30 other people follow, repeat and listen to what she was saying and instructing. Due to the gym having been under construction for the last month, I haven't seen or talked to Sherri since the classes have been revoked until the gym is done being remodeled.

Interperative : The most important thing I learned from Sherri is how to teach the class and motivate other people to do the workout to their best ability. As i took notes of what qualities shined through, I narrowed it down to 3 specific qualities, those being, having the same about of energy as expected by the class, motivating those who look really tired and showing no less of effort during the class. These qualities, even though my essential question isn't about what quality a cardio kickboxing instructor needs to have; gives me the right tools to execute my cardio kickboxing class and activites during my 2 hour presentation.

Applied : Through Sherri I learned the important and key processes of what makes a cardio kickboxing class so effective. Even though one of my interviews was with another cardio kickboxing instructor, Sherri allowed me to get active in the class by setting up for it, making sure the area was nice before and after and taking the class along with her.Her class allowed me to use my best answer, using THRZ throughout the cardio kickboxing fitness program. The class also allowed to me to test how different types of food affects an exercise; first answer came into consideration and also how motivation and commitment is key to starting, finishing and being consistant with the class is important to achieving the health benefits a person would want; which is my second answer.

Sponge activity:  For my sponge activity I will ask the class how much they exercise weekly, do they personally think they eat healthy and if they ever heard of cardio kickboxing and what their ideas of what it is, is.

Introduction:  At the moment it is, "What is most significant in achieving a healthy body system and healthy physique?" but, I'm changing it to "What is most significant in achieving a healthy system through cardio kickboxing?". What I mean on a healthy system is by having your body feeling well during the class and exercise, not having your heart pumping too much blood or straining your muscles. I chose cardio kickboxing because originally I wanted to do kickboxing overall but with my health I couldn't; cardio kickboxing was a great alternative. Plan for the day would be to talk about what a healthy system is in a nutritional stand point, what cardio kickboxing is, showing the basic punchs and kicks for the first activity, then moving into my 3 answers. After break, I will have a full on cardio kickboxing class.

Foundation:  What cardio kickboxing is, why is it a popular exercise class, how the idea came across, basic moves of cardio kickboxing and what a person can achieve by doing the class.

Body:

Answer 1: Good eating habits
-----Activity 1:  No activity in mind, or just have them share out if they think they have good eating habits.
Answer 2: Committment/Motivation
-----Activity 2:  Have them do, squat, front kick, squat, back kick, squat, left kick, squat, right kick, while having their partners motivate them to continue doing it and the person commiting to a proper execution. (I hate squats and it's the hardest exercise to keep up with in the class!"
Answer 3: Using target heart rate zone during the class.
-----Activity 3:  Have the class find their target heart rate zone.

Conclusion
What is your best answer and why? Using target hear zone rate. It personally has helped me and people in my science experiment improve their workouts and keep themselves healthy. Using target heart rate zone helps keep a person motivated during the exercise and helps the person know whether they are putting their 100% effort into the exercise, proof being what their heart rate is. It not only keeps a person at a healthy heart rate during exercise, but it also is the range of which you burn the most calories during the exercise because your body is not over exerting during the class nor is it doing the bare minimum.
What is your 3 most important sources and why?
1. Sherri Diaz - independent component 1, service learning, interview 2. She has helped me understand not only cardio kickboxing but exercise as a whole and how a person's body reacts to exercise. She has answered my many questions and was always my motivator during the class.
2. Dr. Audrey Gonzalez - interview 4. Audrey taught me many things of nutrition and what it really means to have a healthy system. Throughout all my reasearch, I never fully understood or got the the best information of what nutrition truly is. Audrey helped me understand nutrition and assisted me to really is to put things together.
3. http://www.popularfitness.com/ - This website assisted me a lot during reseach checks. I gave me full information on every topic of exercise, including strength training, cardio vascular exercise, flexibility training and many more. Many of the other websites were to general and broad, http://www.popularfitness.com/, wasn't and gave me the details I needed.
What is your product and why? My product of this whole senior project was the improvements I made myself. I had bad health coming into senior year and I was never truly healthy, in both exercise and nutrition. I never really knew how much I pushed myself and dangered my body during my many diets and exercise madness phases. Many people doubted me and were uneasy about my exercising because of how unhealthy and weak my body was, but I proved them wrong. My biggest accomplishment throughout this project was to be able to accept who I was on the outside a lot more than I originally did.

Literal : I, Ligia Chang, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.
What I did for my second independent task was to take a Cardio Kickboxing class at the LA Fitness. I was able to take the class and also assist with the class because my service learning instructor was the person who conducted the class. Along with take classes at the gym, I had some cardio kickboxing videos on my tv, (On Demand). I also search up short videos at home when I felt in the mood to work out.

Interperative : This semester, in comparrsion to the last, I mainly focused on learning cardio kickboxing routines, the exercise of cardio kickboxing, observing what makes cardio kickboxing exercise so significant as an exercise.

Applied : I applied taking a cardio kickboxing class to my senior project because I couldn't just read articles of how a cardio kickboxing class is. My first and second interview people are cardio kickboxing instructors and they made it clear that reading articles and books on the topic wouldn't get me anywhere. I would need to experience the class for myself. Taking the classes made me understand the formation, how to put force in my kicks and punchs, to rough out an hour long intense exercise class and learning how to do the exercise. By it helping answering my essential question, along with a significant factor in nutrition and exercise, I was able to apply nutrition and my best answer, which is target heart rate zone into my exercise.
